Thank You to Paula Steinert
The Church Council thanks Paula Steinert for her many years of service in the music ministry of Zion Lutheran Church. We are pleased to hear that in these last weeks, she has been a guest musician elsewhere. May God open doors for her and watch over and protect her.
As Zion revitalizes its music ministry with the help of Jackie McGinnis (see her bio below), the praise and worship team, and the singing of the entire congregation, we are in prayer and we put our trust in God that our choir will have a rebirth and a children’s choir will be born. We will make a special effort to include favorite hymns in worship – just let us know what your favorite hymns are.
Jackie is a passionate musician and director of drama and theatre. Love of music runs in the family. She is one of eight children - #3; of six girls and two boys. Everyone sings and plays the piano along with other instruments including the clarinet and violin. The Sound of Music in real life. Her grandfather played by ear and the family would travel around the country singing and preaching for churches. Her mother is a gifted worship leader. Many of her siblings are now in college or with families of their own. What a joy it is to imagine them all together, four generations, worshipping their Lord and Savior and making a joyful noise unto the Lord. Here is a strong family with a heart for ministry.
Jackie led music in worship at Grace Lutheran Church near Winneconne until October of 2016, for more than ten years. She knows the traditional hymns backwards and forwards. She has been the theatre director of Inspiration Theatre in Winneconne since 2005. Directing a musical like the Sound of Music or Fiddler on the Roof is no small task! She has learned to plan ahead, organize schedules, handle difficult decisions under pressure, coordinate multiple leaders under one banner, design props, build sets, sew costumes, and teach choreography.
Jackie loves working with people and appreciates their uniqueness, their gifts, their strengths, and even their weaknesses. We are blessed to have her on staff at Zion. She has already begun to accompany the congregation on the piano during worship.
Jackie looks forward to helping with getting an adult choir going again, and a children’s choir as well. She enjoys working with the other young adults who help in leading music in worship at Zion.
Jackie likes the fact that at Zion she has a chance to help pick out the music for worship. Feel free to approach her and let her know what your favorite hymns are. She herself enjoys a wide variety of music from traditional to southern gospel to jazz. She is also a music teacher and currently has a studio of 12 students.
Jackie’s father is a chiropractor with a thriving practice. Her sister Jessie has a greenhouse business which keeps Jess and Jackie extra busy in May and June. She takes pleasure in pot and basket design and garden design. So many gifts!
It is a supreme joy to have a distinguished member of the McGinnis family in our midst. We wish Jackie the very best in her ministry of music among us.
